Visual Literacy

For this project our assignment was to fold a book to create a word. It may sounds hard but its quite easy. So the process is to fold each paper have a line on the template of your word. Then you make a mark that shows that you have a already folded half or that line. But back to my book. My word was Love. The man who help grow this fun activity is Isaac G. Salazar. He has been folded books since the 2009. He says he does this so he can share that books are fun to read and also fold because he sees that everyone in this generation is using technology, while books just sit there.Visual Literacy is the ability to recognize and understand ideas through visible actions or images. This book folding process is an example of visual literacy because you see a word through the book, kind of like a hidden message.

For my book i folded the word love because nobody used it yet and because i just love the word love. My font and my word relate because my font is kind of bold looking and my word is just bold its self. My intention was to show the word love in a book because i "love" to read books. I folded 588 pages for the word "love".

I think my book came out pretty good because one: you can see the word really good up close and far away. And two: its really neat. I wouldn't do anything or change it because i like the way it turned out and the final results. If i would try to fold another book i would try do a heart because i think that would look pretty and it probably would be easier because there's not as much angles as a word then an image. Or i would do a image of a moon, star, wave , or flower.

  1. Great word choice and font! I "LOVE" how it turned out, and I encourage you to try folding an image or shape if you decide to create another.
