Double Exposed Portraits

Portrait photography is a photo taken of a person to show their personality or mood of the subject. It also can be taken of a group of people. It can relate to a profile view because it shows personality and expression. Same with silhouetting, it shows your mood you are trying to express. Portrait photography is nothing compared to a regular photo you would of taken.

To create a Double Exposure photo you first must take one or two profile photos and two background images. Next, you open up photoshop, File > Scripts > Load Files into Stack and choose your images you would like to use. Then you resize the photo to, 8.5 x 11” 300 px/in. It should be the size of a regular piece of paper. Later, you blend the photos by clicking, D-Click Layer > Blend Mode > Screen. Lastly, to make your portrait creative you can click, Layer > New Adjustment Layer > Explore.
There you go! Thats how you create a double exposure picture in photoshop! Double exposure portraits are really fun to make! Its pretty fun blending not only the background photos but also your profile you took!

In my double portraits I used pictures of : lights, flowers, leaves and the ocean. In my first example I used flowers and leaves. I used those photos to symbolize me because I really like nature and how beautiful the leaves and flowers looked. For my second example I used a photo of the ocean and another photo of lights. I used those photos to symbolize me because I am a light person and I am always happy and joyful. Also , I used the ocean to symbolize me because I really like to swim in the ocean. I think my quality of work could've improved by taking another ocean picture because it looks a little pixelated.

HDR Photography

High-dynamic-range imaging (HDRI or HDR) is a set of techniques used in imaging and photography to reproduce a greater dynamic range of luminosity than possible using standard digital imaging or photographic techniques. HDR is used to add more dynamic range to photographs, where dynamic range is the ratio of light to dark in a photograph. What I like about HDR Photography is that it exposes the little details and makes the photo "POP"!

To create a HDR photo you will need a digital camera for the exposure bottoms. Next you will need to find a great view of something, somewhere or someone. Then you will press the plus (+) and minus (-), button and that will show the different exposure numbers, usually from a negative number to a positive number. Then, take seven photos with seven different exposure numbers so you can see the difference between the light and dark photos.

HDR Photography is way different from automatic HDR functions. Automatic HDR isn't clear enough and it might not be the way you want it to look. Also, it makes it less exposed which means LESS DETAILS. With HDR photography it gives you a choice between how light or dark you want it and it exposes it more to show more details.

Movie Trailer Critique

In this project we got assigned to create a movie trailer of our choice. I was in team 8 with Lilio Masi, Miles Frazier, and Leslie Acoba. Our idea for our movie trailer was gonna be about a young boy getting bullied but then meets the love of his life. For our movie trailer I help contribute by helping my team act with more emotion so it looks like a real movie instead of a play. I also helped contribute by editing and teaching some of my team members how to edit. Lastly, I helped contribute by helping my team do dialogues and natural sounds.

The requirements for this project were to have at least five scenes with dialogues, clear voice overs, our trailer had to be between 1:30 to 2:00 minutes and had to have one of our movie poster with text and pictures to describe the movie in the ending of trailer in final cut. I felt that my team and I complete most of the requirements because we had five great scenes with dialogues. Our trailer was between 1:30 and 2:00 minutes long.We also had awesome voice overs that was very clear to hear. Lastly, We had a beautiful movie poster with text and pictures in the ending of our trailer.

In our class critique, I agreed with the final results because I felt we did a good job, but we also had very few flaws that brought our results down. Some flaws where a couple technical issues like a green flash. In the end of the final critique, I totally agree with it! I learned a lot during this project. I learned a lot of technical skills that will help me a lot in G.T. and also if I wanted to be a video producer or a photographer.

Movie Poster Promo

My main characters in my movie poster is Ziggy Twisty and Malia Hessenheffer. The actor playing Ziggy is Miles Frazier and the actor playing Malia is Leslie Acoba. The setting in the background is a small grass area at Kapa'a Middle School. We chose that to be our background because our setting in the story has to do with school. There are three pictures all together. The first one Ziggy is looking into the distance trying to show how sad and depressed his is. The second pictures shows Ziggy and Malia's love for each other and how strong their bond is.

Our title for our movie trailer is "Young And Broken Hearted". That title is included on the top of our poster to state the title and name of the movie. Some other texts in our movie poster are " Miles Frazier as Ziggy" and "Leslie Acoba as Malia". I added those text so that when people see that Miles is playing as Ziggy, people want to watch it because people liked Miles in other movies and in real life maybe. Also, I put "Hollywood Studios say: inspiring" and "New York Times say: Jaw Dropping". I put those on the poster because it shows good reviews from popular companies. This is very important because it shows people that the movie is good. Lastly I put " While he save him self or will she?" I put this so when people see the trailer they will kind of get the idea we are trying to give in this movie.

Kerning is very important in photoshop. Kerning is the process of adjusting the spacing between characters in a proportional font, usually to achieve a visually pleasing result. Kerning is important because it makes it easier to read the words. It also organizes the word.

The overall impacted of the filter and layer was very excellent because it really helped to out the words and title over the pictures so you can see them. Also, the gradient was very awesome because i used it to make the pictures look like they are fading into each other so they don't look like boxes of pictures next to each other. It was great having the different filters and layers.

The beginning of my process.
The middle of the process.

The finished poster.

Visual Literacy

For this project our assignment was to fold a book to create a word. It may sounds hard but its quite easy. So the process is to fold each paper have a line on the template of your word. Then you make a mark that shows that you have a already folded half or that line. But back to my book. My word was Love. The man who help grow this fun activity is Isaac G. Salazar. He has been folded books since the 2009. He says he does this so he can share that books are fun to read and also fold because he sees that everyone in this generation is using technology, while books just sit there.Visual Literacy is the ability to recognize and understand ideas through visible actions or images. This book folding process is an example of visual literacy because you see a word through the book, kind of like a hidden message.

For my book i folded the word love because nobody used it yet and because i just love the word love. My font and my word relate because my font is kind of bold looking and my word is just bold its self. My intention was to show the word love in a book because i "love" to read books. I folded 588 pages for the word "love".

I think my book came out pretty good because one: you can see the word really good up close and far away. And two: its really neat. I wouldn't do anything or change it because i like the way it turned out and the final results. If i would try to fold another book i would try do a heart because i think that would look pretty and it probably would be easier because there's not as much angles as a word then an image. Or i would do a image of a moon, star, wave , or flower.

Proactive or Procrastination?

To be honest I feel I am a little of both. But if I had to pick one I would say I am a procrastination type of person because I usually donʻt study as much as I should. Also, I am usually late on some assignments which is pretty bad. Lastly, I sometimes play around or space out in classes. But I am definitely trying to become a proactive person!

My level of productivity is kind of high when it comes to my free time because on my free time I be sure to do my homework or assignments. But the reason I say "kind of" is because sometimes I just go home and just go and play like go to the beach even though I know I have to study for a test. Or I just wonʻt study till night time when I should be sleeping. I know I have to work on my level of productivity.

Somethings I would like to chance about my work habits would be to not fool around in class and really pay attention to what the teacher is teaching. Also, I would be productive on my free time such as studying or doing work that could improve me in a class. I would remind myself to try to study right when I get home. I would also take time doing my homework so I do a good job.

My Visual Poem

My poem is about the beach. My poem shows the way i really appreciate the beach and the how beautiful the beach can be if you look at it real closely.

I really think the visual really impacts the poem because you get an idea of what i or someone else is talking about. I also think it really impacts it because it gives a visual look about that sentence which gives you a different perspective of the beach and poem. Lastly, it really impacts poem because it feels like you right there and watching the waves and ocean.

My special effects affects the overall meaning by how i put natural sounds because it seems like you actually there sitting there at the beach watching the waves crash. My special effects affects the audience by them really getting hooked because you are looking and hearing about the story which is the poem and imagery. Lastly, my special effects affects the mood by giving you joy because of all the fun and beauty the poem is showing and telling.

When i was all finished with the poem i was satisfied with my poem because it shows and tells enough information to give a good perspective on my thoughts on the beach. I think i could make it better by adding and getting more b-roll. Also i could add a title for the beginning to introduce my poem. Lastly, i think i could of spoked with a little more emotion to express myself and the poem.
